Online engines
Online translation engines are no substitute for genuine human translations. Use them with caution and discretion, as they are prone to the following common errors:
- Inappropriate or non-existent verb tense - English sports several verb tenses that are very subtle and difficult to express in other languages.
- Homographs - one of a group of words that share the same spelling but have different meanings.
- Auto-antonyms - a word with multiple meanings, one of which is defined as the reverse of one of its other meanings.
- Ill-chosen Synonyms - different words with identical or at least similar meanings.
- Incorrect association of adjectives or adverbs with nouns.
- Incorrect articles selection, omission or reduction (only present in English with "a" vs. "an", but much more prevalent in European languages)
- Misidentification of proper nouns
